Daniel J. Kelemen

Daniel J. Kelemen, 83, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, September 24, 2014. He was born May 31, 1931 in Emmaus; son of the late John and Susan (Bobik) Kelemen. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Ann (Robell) Kelemen.

Dan proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He attended Allentown Central Catholic High School and graduated from Lehigh University, class of 1954. In 1986 he retired from Air Products were he served as a chemical engineer for 33 years. After his retirement, he served as a volunteer tax preparer for 31 years with the AARP Tax Assistance Program. Dan was a devoted parishioner of the Incarnation of Our Lord Parish and served as both a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 313. Dan was extremely honored to be a part of both the Board of Trustees as well as the Lay Advisory Board of the St. Francis Friary. Dan was past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 191, class representative of the Lehigh Alumni Association and supporter of the Zoellner Arts Center since its inception. Dan was also a faithful volunteer at Musikfest for 20 years. He was a long-time member of the Lehigh South Side Boosters and the Goodfellows Club and a lifetime member of many local social clubs. Danny loved golfing, anything Lehigh and sharing stories with friends old and new. His never-say-no volunteer spirit was unique and he set an example for all of us how to live and share a rich life.

Dan will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Ann Maria Greenzweig and her husband, Dennis of Bethlehem; his granddaughter, Amy Lechman; sister-in-law Jacqueline Zaun and her husband, Joseph; nephews, Joseph and James Zaun and Harvey Hottenstein; niece Rebecca Hottenstein; cousin, Betty Ann Girvin and her husband, Robert, their son Robert and his wife Martena, as well as his great nephew, Noah. He was pre-deceased by his sister Helen Hottnestein.

Visitation hours will be held Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 6-8 PM and again on Monday from 9-10:15 AM at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 11 AM at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Interment will follow at Holy Savior Cemetery.
