David Frank Mitros

David F. Mitros, 63, of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2017. He was born on September 22, 1953 in Nanticoke, PA, son of the late Emma Jean (Urbanski) and Edward J. Mitros.

David was a member of St. Annes Church in Bethlehem. He was a graduate of Montclair State University and received his masters from California State University. He worked as Archivist for the Morris County (NJ) Heritage Commission. David loved history and volunteered at many local historical societies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including the Steelworker Archives (where he served as Archivist) and the Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society. He also served on the board of the South Bethlehem Historical Society. David also authored several books and articles on the Civil War and slavery in New Jersey. He was a musician and avid photographer.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Daria Sockey (Bill) and Christina Watkins (Timothy), 16 nieces and nephews and 4 grand nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Emma Jean.

Viewings will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. and also Saturday, February 11 from 10-10:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. With a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, Pa 18017. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

The family request that friends have masses said for David at the Catholic Church of their choice. Alternatively, memorial contributions may be made to Marys Shelter, www.marysshelter.org
