David George Livirrie

David George Livirrie, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Country Meadows in Bethlehem. He was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Politi) Livirrie. He is predeceased by his wife, Virginia Smith-Livirrie and three sisters, Elda and Althea Livirrie and Mae Pozzi. David was a native of Bethlehem. He and his wife lived in Saucon Valley for 30 years before moving to Macungie in 1995. Mr. Livirrie later moved to Country Meadows where he lived for the last several years and where he loved spending time with the residents and staff. Mr. Livirrie was a graduate of Liberty High School and Widener University. He retired from Western Electric in Allentown where he worked as a Senior Industrial Engineer for 35 years. An avid golfer, bridge player and wood worker, Mr. Livirrie was a long time member of Saucon Valley Country Club. In retirement, he made wood craft objects for family and friends. He was also a long time parishioner of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Bethlehem. David was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Army Air Corps, stationed in England. David flew in 35 missions over France and Germany on B-24 Bombers. He was the last remaining member of his crew of nine men.

He is survived by his sister, Erma Reed of Bethlehem; niece, Natalie Enright of Ocean City, NJ; grand nieces, Jennifer Wunderler and her husband Carl of Macungie; Beth Morgan and her husband, Robb Canning of Connecticut; grand nephews, Kurt Weaver and Lisa Infantino of Easton; Mark Weaver and his wife, Andrea of Florida; eight great grand nieces and nephews and stepsons, Roy Smith of North Carolina and Larry Smith of Florida.

A visitation will be held at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18015 on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 9-10:30 a.m. immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Marys St. Michael School Fund.
