Dennis C. Hartzell

September 30, 1950 — April 4, 2011

Dennis C. Hartzell, 60, of Bethlehem died on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Hospice House of St. Lukes, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born September 30, 1950; the son of the late Charles and Frances Muscara Hartzell.

Dennis is survived by his devoted wife, Diane C. Finn Hartzell. They would have shared 39 years of marriage on April 15.

Dennis was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School.

He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Co. where he worked in the Blast Furnace and Coke Works; both in Bethlehem, PA and Lackawanna, NY. More recently he was the Service Manager for Allentown Townhouse Apts.

He was currently the President of the Independent Citizens Club of Bethlehem and was a member of the 540 Democratic Club, Jefferson Democratic Club, N.E. Wanderers A.A., Hecktown Fire Co., Order of the Fleas and the Heights A.A.

Dennis' favorite place was sitting around the campfire. He spent most of his free time camping with family, friends and other members of the Parachute Camping Group.

Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane; daughter, Erin wife of John Williams; son, Matthew Hartzell, all of Bethlehem; as well as his sister Yolanda wife of Paul Ahlum of Quakertown and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Miles, Spencer, Jayda Victoria, Matthew Jr. and Andrew.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1817 1st St. Bethlehem, PA 18020.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of St. Luke's 1510 Valley Center Parkway Suite 200 Bethlehem, PA 18017.
