Dennis Friend

Dennis G. Friend, 77, of Whitehall, passed peacefully on his birthday, May 14, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He drew his last breath surrounded by his loving family. Denny will be remembered as a man whose life revolved around his beautiful family and his passion for cars.

Described as kind, caring, easy-going, generous, and loving, Denny touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His love for reading, cars, watching basketball games, and enjoying Huey Lewis music reflected his multifaceted personality and varied interests.

He was born on May 14, 1947, in Fullerton, PA, the son of the late Charles and Alma (Evans) Friend.

Denny was a graduate of Dieruff High School where he attended the Vocational Technical Program. Here he discovered the intricacies of automotive repair which led him to his first job with Daniels Cadillac at the age of 16. This realization was the beginning of an extensive career as an auto mechanic and later as a service writer. Denny retired at the age of 62.

Above all else, Denny was most proud of his family. Spending cherished moments with them brought immeasurable happiness to his heart. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Bogumila "Millie" Friend; daughters, Constance Margaret Rawski and husband, Thomas, and Jennifer Ann Clark-Copley and husband, Frank; stepchildren, Rebecca Marie Albert and husband, Chris, and William H. Gross Jr.; brother, Charles A. Friend and wife, Charlotte; as well as his grandchildren, Nick, Katie, Tommy, Jacob, Sam, and Elena; great-granddaughters, Sophia and Charlotte, along with nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, from 10:00 - 11:00 am and will be immediately followed by a memorial service to celebrate Denny's life. Burial will take place at St. Josaphat Cemetery in Hellertown.
