Dennis R. Nicholas passed peacefully into heaven from his home on November 21, 2021, at the age of 77. Born in Bethlehem, Dennis was the son of the late Henry and Irene Nicholas.
He was a 1962 graduate of Liberty High School. After graduating, he began his career at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He then went on to work in the insurance and investment industry, owning Nicholas Underwriting Associates. He also owned both a laundromat and deli. He was an entrepreneur to his core.
Known by most as Denny, he enjoyed cooking for and spending time with his family, and loved to entertain for the holidays. He was known for his sausage sandwiches at the St. Pauls Church Festival. An avid golfer, Denny loved music and was once a fine dancer. In his retirement, Denny spent all his time fishing at the river. He loved his dogs and was a big Eagles fan.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Christine Winslow, Susan Bush and Nicole Haines; sister, Linda Ratliff; five grandchildren, Jarred Haines, Michael Winslow, Stephanie Berardi, Morgan Bush and Benjamin Bush; and his first wife, Mary Lou Romanyzyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Gloria Gabriel-Nicholas.
Dennys family will be planning a celebration of life in the springtime.
