Derwent J. Bernath

Derwent J. "Derry" Bernath, 77, of Hanover Twp., and formerly of Green Brook, NJ died on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Twp., surrounded by his loving family. Born September 11, 1931 in Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of the late Julius and Barbara Moore Bernath. He was the loving husband of Theresa M."Terry" LaCanna Bernath. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this past October.

Derry worked as a machinist for Wood Newspaper in Plainfield, NJ and later for ASARCO in Somerville, NJ. He retired from ASARCO as a foreman. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Derry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Terry, son, John J. Bernath & his wife, Margo, two daughters, Diane Bernath and Carol, wife of John Macaluso, brothers, Dan & Dave Bernath, a sister, Barbara Verhage and his two grandchildren, Matthew & Jenna Macaluso.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Friday, March 13, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem. Visitation will be from 10-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. both in the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Alzheimer's Association-Lehigh Valley Branch, 617-A Main St. Hellertown, PA 18055.
