Domenica Madeline Savelli Smale

Domenica Madeline Rizzo Savelli Smale, 92, of Nazareth, formerly of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Gracedale in Nazareth. Domenica was born in Old Forge, PA and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita Rizzo and the widow of Peter Savelli who died in 1980 and Fred Smale who passed away a few years later.

Domenica was born a coalminers daughter in 1916 in Old Forge, PA married Peter Savelli in 1935. She had two sons, as they resided in Bethlehem, Rudy Savelli with two children and Albert Savelli with three children. After her husband Peter died in 1980 she later married Fred Smale who passed away a few years later. She held several factory jobs at different times but her main role was raising her children.

She had a touch of the Lucy Ricardo in her as she got into many situations with many friends and relatives that can laugh about today. She enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing as her hobbies, giving much of her works to others, be it friends or family.

Domenica will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Albert J. Savelli and wife Elaine of Orefield, Pa and Rudy P. Savelli of Bethlehem, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Domenica is predeceased by her a brother Joseph Rizzo Jr. and a sister Mary Guffrovich.

Friends may call Saturday, November 29, 2008 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at the church.
