Donald E. Goertel

Donald E. Goertel, 78, of Easton, passed away peacefully early Monday morning; he was surrounded by his family. Born in Mandan, ND, he was the son of the late Mathias and Alice (Cary) Goertel. He was the loving husband to Elaine (Hoffman) Goertel; they were married 58 years.

Don was a respected and in-demand MAI designated commercial real estate appraiser. He founded Goertel Real Estate, which he managed for 35 years. He was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church.

He is missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Elaine, their children, Thomas Goertel and wife Carol of Annandale, VA, Margaret Goertel Nagl of Baltimore, MD, William Goertel and wife Christen of Nashville, TN, James Goertel and wife Rachel of Westfield, NY, Abby Grubor and husband John of Brentwood, TN, Melissa Lehmann and husband Nicholas of Allentown, PA; their grandchildren, Alex, Caleb, Jesse, Mackenzie, Carlin, Aubrey, Madeline, Paul, Claire, and Henry Goertel; Jack, Laura, Grant and Katie Grubor; Andrew Nagl; Jacob and Nathan Lehmann. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Kenneth.

Viewing hours will be on Thursday, August 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. A 10:30 a.m. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Friday at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Easton. Burial will follow at Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem.
