Donald Jacobs Fillman

Donald Jacobs “Butch” Fillman, 84, of Bethlehem, died on September 25, 2023. He was born in Bethlehem, son of the late Donald Kenneth and Ivera Doris (Jacobs) Fillman.

Butch will be lovingly remembered for being a talented, loving, and smart man, with a tremendous sense of humor. He could occasionally be a thorn in the side of family and friends, but it was fun to be in his company.

Butch loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and boating, especially at his cabin at Lake Wallenpaupack; it was truly a great place of peace for him. Earlier in life, motorcycles were of great importance to Butch. He put many miles on his Harley Davidson riding with his buddies.

He was a skilled woodworker and cabinet maker. Butch enjoyed history and would know the answers to most questions that he was asked.

Butch was proud to be a U.S. Marine. He worked as a revenue agent for the PA Department of Revenue, where he met his wife of 41 years, Marylou Louise Fillman. Donald was a member of the West Side Republican Club and past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge.

Butch will be dearly missed by his wife, Marylou; daughters, Debbi Fillman, Denise Choma (David Harris), Dodie Schumacher, and Amanda Castillo (Kyle Castillo); step-son, Marc Trezza; as well as his grandchildren, Jarred, Keri, Latae, Tommy, Nicole, Natalie, Mikeiah, Shy, Kailie, Kelsie, Khloie, and Kaiden; 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, John Fillman. He was preceded in death by his guardian angels, daughter, Donna Kostic, and grandson, Jacob Vanbrunt.

A visitation will be held on Thursday September 28, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a memorial service all at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be held at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
