Donald L. Palumbo

Donald L. Palumbo, 80, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, formerly of Hopatcong, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. Lukes Hospital-Anderson Campus in Bethlehem. Born on September 17, 1935 in Bronx, New York, Donald was the son of the late Dominick Palumbo and Margaret (Fariello) Celli. He was a 1953 graduate of William Howard Taft High School in the Bronx. Donald proudly served in the United States Army National Guard of New York receiving an honorable discharge in 1959. He was a route salesman and supervisor for the Stella Doro Biscuit Co. in the Bronx and a sales manager for Entenmanns Bakery in Edison, New Jersey, from which he retired in 1997. A member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church of Hopatcong for 40 years, Don became a parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Bethlehem upon moving to Bethlehem in 2013. A family man with a great sense of humor, he loved to travel with his wife and childhood sweetheart Rose. Don was an avid golfer with his golf partner and son Donald and a loyal, life-long New York Yankee and Giants fan. His most recent favorite pastime was watching his grandson and pal, David, hit home runs.

Don will be lovingly missed and greatly remembered by his surviving wife Rose (Simonetti) Palumbo, who he celebrated 60 years of marriage with on September 18, 2015, and his cherished son Donald Palumbo and daughter Christine (Palumbo) Ciaccio and husband Luke, treasured grandchildren Gina Marie (Palumbo) Knudsen and husband Thomas, Gabriella and David Ciaccio, dear daughter in-law, Clair Valentino, and his many caring cousins and respected friends.

A viewing will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
