Doris C. Karp

Doris C. Karp, 87, of Bethlehem, died on Monday, October 19, 2015. She was born March 13, 1928 in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Lloyd and Cecelia (Nagel) Collins. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Wallace F. Karp.

Doris dedicated her life to her family. She adored her children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending and supporting their life events and endeavors. She was a wonderful wife and mother and a great friend. Doris was very outgoing, loved culture and the arts, and she was opinionated, both with her political views and thoughts on life. Doris was a lifelong learner, earning her degree in Mental Health Technology from Hahnemann and a Masters degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from the University of Oklahoma. Doris was also a woman of strong faith. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bethlehem.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Karen and her husband, Bruce Jackson of Marlton, NJ; and Kathryn DiConcetto of Dallas, PA; her daughter-in-law, June Karp of Delanco, NJ; and her son-in-law, Joseph DiConcetto, MD of Bethlehem; brothers, Lloyd Collins and Artie Collins and his wife, Marge; five grandchildren, Brad, Karen, Andrew, Joey and Brian; and one great-granddaughter, Jada. She was preceded in death by her sons, David Wallace and William James Karp; her grandson, Eric; sister, Marguerite Steckhahn and brothers, William and Robert Collins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 12- 1 p.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Ceremony to celebrate Doris will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. immediately followed by a service at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
