Dorothy A. Michael

Dorothy A. Michael, 70, of Bear, DE, and formerly of Bethlehem, PA, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late George and Dorothy M. (Bowen) Michael. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School. Dorothy retired from the Human Resources Department of Walmart where she worked as a Community Coordinator and Safety Director, and before that worked at St. Lukes Hospital with Nutrition Services. She was a member of the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators and a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sisters, Donna Pichel, Marlene Richter and Jeanette Brodt all of Bethlehem; her caregiver and best friend, Nancy (Nicki) Cotugna, her niece Tracey Michael who also helped care for her; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Michael, and her brothers Joseph and Richard Smallwood of Newburg, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St., Bethlehem. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
