Dorothy A. Shiner

Dorothy A. Shiner, 86, of Bethlehem died on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Holy Family Manor. She was born December 3, 1925 in Phillipsburg, NJ; daughter of the late Phillip A. and Grace (Lawler) Lucas. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Shiner. Dorothy retired from

the City of Bethlehem where she worked in the tax office from 1971 to 1991. Earlier she worked as a secretary for Moravian College and Lehigh University.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David Shiner and his wife Annette of Macungie; Phyllis and her husband Mike Palos of Bethlehem and Scott Shiner of Bethlehem and her brother, A.P. "Luke" Lucas. Baba will also be dearly missed by Tammy and her husband Jason Vajda; Brent Shiner; Michael Palos; Vanessa Lesperance; Ryan Palos; Patrick Shiner and his wife Lindsey and Douglas Shiner as well as seven great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Adrienne Shiner-Hursh and great granddaughters, Emily and Katelyn Lesperance.

Dorothy was a member of the Holy Rosary Society of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, Red Hats Society, Northwest Little League Auxiliary and she served as a Cub Scout Master. Dorothy was also a volunteer at the polls during elections for many years.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 6-8PM and again on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 9-10 AM with a service to celebrate Dorothy's life to follow at 10 AM all at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
