Dorothy Ann (O'Shaughnessy) DeAngelo, 88, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Hospice House of St. Luke's. She was born November 21, 1924 in Bethlehem; daughter of the late John Burt and Katherine T. (Charney) O'Shaughnessy.
Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Liberty high School. She retired in 1986 as an instructor at Kurtz Training Center after 21 years of service. Earlier, Dorothy worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. She was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem. Dorothy had a wonderful and caring spirit. She was a determined worker and enjoyed shopping, watching the wildlife at the cabin and chocolate candy!
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her son, Mark G. DeAngelo; her faithful companion for 16 years, James "Ike" Youngkin and her sister, Betty Geiger all of Bethlehem; as well as her nieces, Bonny Geffert of Bethlehem and Tammy Vitulano of Florida; and Ike's daughter and grandchildren who Dorothy adopted as her own, Sandra Youngkin and Ellie and Nathan Barndt. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean O'Shaughnessy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Connell Funeral Home and will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017 and/or St. Luke's Hospice House C/O Development 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem, PA 18015.
