Dorothy L. Rodgers

Dorothy L. Rodgers, 92, of Bethlehem, died on Monday August 22, 2011. Born in Bethlehem on January 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ida Free and Edward Lucas. She was married to Peter Earl Rodgers who passed away on August 18, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ida Rodgers, Loretta Mies, Rose Shure, Mary Knies and her brothers, Edward and Joseph Lucas.

Dorothy graduated from Bethlehem Business College and worked in the Billing Department of the Bethlehem Steel. Later, she worked in retail at Bethlehem's local jewelry stores. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and of their Fellowship Group where she enjoyed the company of her friends. She enjoyed traveling, the beach and playing Bingo. Most especially, she enjoyed spending her days with her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Judith Rodgers Reese wife of Charles; granddaughters, Alison R. Busfield wife of Joseph and Jessica R. Meader wife of Bradley; and her great grandchildren, Tucker Joseph Busfield, Regan McKenzie Busfield, and Lucas Edward Meader.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, on Monday August 29th at 10 a.m. Viewing hour will be held in the church on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
