Dorothy Mary Smith

Dorothy Mary Smith, 83, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, May 30, 2014 at her home. She was born June 20, 1930 in Bethlehem; daughter of the late Grace (Proszics) Ren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Preston R. Smith, Jr.

Dorothy dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker, loving wife and caring mother. She also served as a Bethlehem School District Noon Hour Aide as well as PTA past president and secretary. Dorothy also provided home care aide for many families. She was a very active member of St. Johns Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in many church organizations. Dorothy enjoyed ministering to those in need through her passion for writing encouraging letters.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her son, Preston F. Smith and his wife, Paula of Chalfont, PA; daughter, Janis Elisabeth York of West Sussex, England as well as her granddaughter, Jennifer York and great granddaughter, Claire.

A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 10-11 AM. A service will be held 11:30 AM on Friday at St. Johns Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church, 617 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Interment will be held at Bethlehem Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Flowers are welcome.
