Douglas Edward Serfass, 67, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg on Sunday, August 21, 2022 after a brief illness.
His wife and son were at his side. He was the husband of Mary S. (Homlak) Serfass.
Born in Palmerton on January 6, 1955, he was a son of the late Frederick D. and Anna M. (Kripper) Serfass. He graduated from Palmerton High School, and was one of the first to earn a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance Piano from West Chester University.
A classical pianist, he played a total of 23 different instruments and was well versed in Jazz. He played at many venues in the Lehigh Valley and in the Poconos. He was also an organist at various churches in Carbon County and the Lehigh Valley.
Doug and Mary have owned and operated The Snow Goose Gallery on Main Street in Bethlehem for the last 30 years. He was a skilled framer and show curator, and the area's only Certified Picture Framer.
Doug enjoyed cooking, and he was a Master Certified Barbeque Judge with the Kansas City Barbeque Society.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, their son, David Evan (Rebecca A. Levine) Serfass of Allentown, and his brother, Gerald D. (Mali Hung) Serfass of Greenwood Lake, NY.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held at a later date.
