Douglas Syp, 77, of Hellertown, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Donna L. (Gontzar) Syp. Doug was born in the Port Richmond area of Philadelphia on February 5, 1947 to the late Alfred and Grayce (Nawrocki) Syp. He graduated from Bensalem High School in 1965 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Trenton State College. Doug proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Panama and Guam, an experience that shaped his character. He worked in Materials Management for many years for Suburban Hospital, Norristown, Easton Hospital, Life Quest & Saint Mary's Hospital, Langhorne. He served on the Planning Commission for the Borough of Hatboro. Beyond his professional life, he was an avid golfer and a member of the Willowbrook Golf League. Doug loved going to the casino with his wife. He also enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. He had a sharp mind, a keen interest in history, politics and sci-fi. Doug had an unforgettable dry sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He was thoughtful and generous and would do anything to help someone in need. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him; including his cats Murph and SamSon.

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife of 32 years; son: Matthew (Tami) Syp of Glendale, AZ; brother: J. Derek Syp of Reading; grandchildren: Bella & Abby; and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his sister: Deborah Earl.

Services: A Celebration of Life will be held, followed by the inurnment with military honors at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Details will be announced at a later date. Online condolences may be offered at www.connellfuneral.com
