Douglass P. Norwood

Douglass P. Norwood, 93, of Allentown, PA went home to be with his Lord on Friday, March 13, 2009 in Saint Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Rose Ward Norwood, who died in 2004. Born in Glendale, Maryland, he was the son of the late Henry Eugene and Melinda Douglass Norwood. He was predeceased by brothers Edgar, Eugene, and Hayden, and by sisters Margaret, Hilda, Alice, and Ruth. Douglass was a US Navy veteran, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres of World War II. He owned and operated a used car dealership in Allentown in the 40's and 50's, and worked until his retirement in 1977 as a welder for the Bethlehem Steel Company. He is survived by his son, Douglass Jr., and his wife Sarah, with whom he resided for several years; and by grandsons Hugh Norwood and wife Terri of Sykesville, Maryland and Samuel Norwood and wife Janet of Bethlehem, PA. He was especially blessed by four great-grandchildren: Charles and Jonathan in Maryland, and Lucy and Jacob in Bethlehem.
