Dr. John J. "Jack" Goodwin,, Md Jr.

Dr. John J. “Jack” Goodwin, Jr., MD, 91, of Breinigsville died on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was born in Philadelphia on July 3, 1927, son of the late John J. and Mary (Kearns) Goodwin. He was the husband of the late Marianne (Ruppert) Goodwin who died in 2013; they were married for 58 years.

Dr. Goodwin graduated from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in 1954 with a Doctorate in Psychiatry. He was instrumental in establishing the first psychiatric ward in the Lehigh Valley at Allentown General Hospital. After retiring from private practice he worked with multiple state agencies where he specialized in forensic psychiatry. Beyond his work “Jack” enjoyed spending time at the beach in Avalon, NJ and spent many hours sailing the Chesapeake Bay with his beloved Marianne. He loved to entertain and his home was often filled with the warmth and laughter of family and friends. He was also a proud Marine Corps veteran of WWII and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Limeport.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, John J. III; Gregory and his wife, Diane; Mark and his wife, Cheryl; Matthew and his wife, Deborah; Thomas and his wife, Debra; Christopher and his wife, Kathleen; Anne Hawley and her husband, Tom; Mary Ritter and her husband, Brad; Paul and his wife, Kim and Joseph and his wife Jennie. “Jack” will also be dearly missed by his 23 grandchildren, Amanda, Paula, Adam, Ashley, Nicholas, Jennifer, Timarie, Matthew, Lauren, Andrew, Leah, Heather, Jack, Margaret, Kelsey, Timothy, Taylor, Michael, Nicole, Ryan, Madison, Gracie and Nathan; his three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Carson and Ella; his brothers, Richard, Michael and William, and sisters, Joanne Dick, Mary Lou Higgins and Terri Shields. In addition to his wife and parents “Jack” was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Bob.

A visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3rd at St. Joseph Church, 5050 Saint Josephs Rd. Limeport, PA, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Limeport, PA. Please offer condolences online at www.connellfuneral.com.
