Dr. John J. Shelly

Dr. John J. Shelly, Jr., 81, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, February 6, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital-Allentown Campus.

He was born in Bethlehem, the son of the late John J. and LilianBartleson Sr.

John was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1945. He later graduated from Penn State University, earned his B.A. from American University and eventually graduated with his Veterinarian degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

John retired in 1992 after 35 years as the owner and operator of John J.Shelly Veterinarian Clinic, Bethlehem.

He was a member of the Rotary Club of Bethlehem.

John is survived by his nephews John and Jeff Nelson and his friends, Ana Figueroa and her family.

Service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 11 AM, at ConnellFuneral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018, Rev. Richard Collins officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
