Dr. Leroy J. Tuscher

Dr. Leroy J. Tuscher, 81, of Bethlehem, died on April 15, 2016, at the Hospice House of St. Lukes. He was born January 10, 1935 in Ipswich, SD; son of the late Joseph and Frances (Ochs) Tuscher. Dr. Tuscher was the devoted husband to Barbara Tuscher.

Dr. Tuscher had a passion for education. He earned his Bachelors degree from Northern State College in South Dakota, his Masters degree from Stanford University and his Doctorate from Florida State University. His career in education began as a math teacher at Queen Anne High School in Seattle, WA. He then traveled to Tokyo, Japan where he was the principal of an American School. And he later retired from Lehigh University as an Educational Technology Professor after over 30 years of service. He was also a member of the Newman Foundation at Lehigh. Dr. Tuscher was proud to have assisted in the creation of Digital Dinosaurs, an educational technology program. He also served on the Bethlehem Area School Board and the Allentown Diocesan School Board. Dr. Tuscher was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a member of the Serra Club. Dr. Tuscher was also a talented woodworker and home builder. He will be remembered as a faithful, loving, caring and supportive husband, father and grandfather.

Dr. Tuscher will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara; children, Tracey Snell and her husband, Eric of Milton, GA; Lesley Estock and her husband, George of Bethlehem; Suzanne McQuilken and her husband, Scott of Roswell, GA and John Tuscher of Bethlehem; as well as his eight grandchildren, Hannah, Gwenyth, Nathaniel, Taylor, Brooke, Kadyn, Rylan and Lauryn and his brother, Melvin Tuscher. He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Nelson and brother, John Tuscher.

The Connell Funeral Home is honored to assist with the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Inurnment will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help School to be used towards educational Technology.
