Duncan C Maclean

MacLean, Duncan Charles, of Easton, PA, formerly of Bethlehem, PA, died on April 8, 2021 after a long battle with complications from diabetes, kidney and heart disease in Cleveland, Ohio. Duncan was born on August 6, 1947 to Francis J. MacLean, Jr and Eleanor McIntyre MacLean, both of Bethlehem, PA. He was 73 years old.

Duncan was the eldest of ten children and spent the first 12 years of his life as an Air Force Brat, following his father to 7 different states and airbases before returning to the Bethlehem area. He attended Notre Dame High School and graduated from Liberty High School. Duncan went on to attend the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Duncan took great pleasure in listening to all types of music especially jazz and classical music and opera and was an avid reader. He could play multiple instruments and was mostly self-taught. He played trombone in his high school band and on one occasion appeared at The Mill, in Bethlehem, a folk music forum in the 60s, playing the harmonica. His other interests included photography, biking, reading and solving the Sunday New York Times Crossword puzzle, which along with his mother, he completed in ink.

Duncan is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Timothy F. MacLean, Colin T. MacLean, and his sister, Deirdre M. MacLean.

Duncan is survived by his brothers: Kevin F., of Reading, PA; and Manus P. (Tanya) of Philadelphia, PA; his sisters: Margaret (Thomas) Harp, of Allentown, PA; Maura E. (Joseph) Monte, of Mays Landing, NJ; Monica M.(Dennis) Brogan, of Molinet, Illinois; and Bridget M. (Michael) Lai, of Maplewood, NJ.

Duncan will also be missed by twenty-two nephews and nieces: Natalie, Brenda, and Rebecca Harp; Dominic, Timothy, Amanda, Karen and Emily Monte; Lucien, Marena and Kyle Lai; Brian and Matthew Brogan; Marie Daniels, Nancy Sevilla, Laura Lane, and Meagan MacLean; Brendan, Moira, Preston, Marcus and Eleanor Mac Lean. He was a great-uncle to 15 grandnephews and nieces.

Services will be private.
