Edna S. Villegas

Edna S. Villegas, 52, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully in Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg, Wednesday, July 17, 2013, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of Gilberto Villegas, whom she shared over 24 years of marriage. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Adrian and Ramonita (Almodovar) Garcia. Edna worked as Assistant Professor and Advisor for New Choices at Northampton County Community College. She was a proud founder, member and choreographer for the Puerto Rican folkloric group "Mensajeros del Coqui". Edna was a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend and the perfect example of faith, strength, and love.

Survivors:

In addition to her husband, Gilberto, Edna was survived by her parents, Adrian and Ramonita, her children Luis Gilberto and Gabriela; her brothers and sisters, Anselmo, Carmen, Ramonita, Ramon, Trinidad, Raul, Elvin, Rev. Angel L. Garcia, Militza, Maria, nephews and nieces. Edna was predeceased by her brother, Adrian Jr. Forever in our hearts. We love you.

Services: A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Holy Infancy R.C. Church, 312 E. 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Edna's name to Morgan Stanley in order to set up a scholarship fund for Edna's daughter Gabriela and mail to Connell Funeral Home.
