Edward A. Pettit, Jr., 71, of Bethlehem, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 17, 2014 at his residence. He was born July 7, 1943 in Bronx, NY; son of Edward A. Pettit Sr. and Mary (Mallon) Pettit. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sue A. (Caldwell) Pettit. Edward was a 1965 graduate of Manhattan College. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. after 38 years of service as an electrical engineer. Edward volunteered his time for 10 years as a math tutor at Lehigh Carbon Community College. He was also an avid Yankees, Giants and University of Notre Dame fan.

Edward will be dearly missed by his wife, Sue; brother, Thomas Joseph Pettit of Dobbs Ferry, NY; cousins from both the United States and Ireland; and his two Persian cats, Peppi and Peanut.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October, 20, 2014 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Tuesday from 9-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS, 66675.
