Easton

Edward Carl Cassel Jr. of Longboat Key, FL and Easton, PA passed away peacefully at sunset surrounded by family on Monday, April 14th, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem, PA.

Born in York, PA to the late E. Carl and Helen (Zarfoss) Cassel, Ed spent much of his youth working at his parents' small family business, Carl's News Stand. It was there that Ed learned the values of a strong work ethic, customer service, and community, which he would carry with him throughout his life. Ed was a 1966 graduate of William Penn High School, where he led the marching band as drum major.

A proud alumnus of Penn State University, Ed earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1970, a field that shaped his successful career in the computer and manufacturing industries.

Ed and his wife Linda (Sponsler), met in high school and celebrated 55 years of marriage in September. Together, they built a partnership full of love, creating a beautiful family, and many memories.

Ed took immense pride in his two daughters, Jennifer Dunne (Brian) of Annapolis, MD, and Julie Bailey (Scott) of Bethlehem, PA, and was the "Happy Pappy" to his five grandchildren, Anna, Reilly, and Emily Dunne, and Bryce and Gavin Bailey. Ed is also survived by his brother Charles Cassel (Angie) of Leesburg, FL, and two nieces. The love he shared with his family was a source of strength and inspiration, and he will forever be remembered for his unwavering commitment to their happiness and well-being.

In addition to his family, Ed was a man of many passions. He had a love for model railroads, a passion for cooking, traveling with Linda, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles.

A dedicated volunteer, Ed gave his time to numerous organizations, including Macungie Park, American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery, Nazareth Area Society of Model Engineers, RealRail, and Freemansburg Baseball Concession stand. Whether giving back to the community or lending a hand to a friend in need, Ed's kindness and willingness to give of himself will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
