Edward D. Nakata, 81, of Bethlehem passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Hospitality Nursing and Rehab Center in Kenosha, WI, with family by his side. Born June 26, 1935, in Wilkes Barre, PA, he was the son of the late Veronica (Vrabel) and John Nakata. He was married to Ottilla K. “Tillie” (Kufrovich) Nakata for 43 years until her death on July 23, 2007.

Edward proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Following his service years he was employed by Pan American Airlines as a flight mechanic and later as an electrician for Lucent Technologies. Upon retirement his hard work did not cease. He was a talented craftsman, often found in his homes workshop making his grandchildren fine wooden toys, such as doll cradles, carousels and puzzles; these will be cherished for years to come. He was filled with so much love for his family. He was a member of Assumption BVM in Lower Saucon Township.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Valerie Bennett wife of Karl of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and four grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Rachel and Daniel and his niece Sr. Virginelle. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George and John Nakata and sisters, Mary Makos, Veronica Klepper and Theresa Vasko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis - Monocacy Manor, 395 Bridle Path Rd, Bethlehem, PA 18017. Arrangements, Connell Funeral Home, Inc.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Edwards name to the School Sisters of St. Francis Retirement Fund, 395 Bridle Path Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18017.
