Edward John Hanzlik

Edward John Hanzlik, 82, of Bethlehem, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born in Bethlehem, the son of the late John and Jennie (Morris) Hanzlik. Ed was the loving husband to Janet (Madtes) Hanzlik. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past March. Ed worked as a mail handler for the U.S. Post Office for 30 years. After retirement, he worked at Lehigh University in the Laundry Department. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Jeffs, and a member of the MORA club. Ed was an avid bowler and fisherman and loved to play Blackjack at the casino. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all their events.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet; his son, Thomas (Kim) Hanzlik of Blythewood, SC; daughter, Kathy (Eric) Miller of Blue Bell, PA; his sister, Linda Scott of Freemansburg; his four grandchildren, Caitlin and Evan Miller and Sarah and Michael Hanzlik and his great-grandson, Alex Hanzlik. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor Bowers and Jean Schleppy.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
