Edward W. Yurko

Edward “Eddie” W. Yurko, 86, of Allentown, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born in Freemansburg on December 6, 1930; he was the son of the late George Jr. and Agnes (Barron) Yurko. He was the loving husband of the late Betty (Hulock) Yurko. They were married 54 years. Edward was an Insurance Agent with State Farm Insurance for 35 years. He was a member for over 50 years at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter, bowler and golfer and served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

A devoted husband and proud and loving father and grandfather, he will be lovingly remembered by his children, Diane, wife of Emil Giordano, Sr. of Mansfield, MA; Sharon, wife of Michael Neders of Coopersburg; William E. Yurko & his wife, Laura of Pittsfield, MA; Lisa, wife of William Gullone of Jim Thorpe; Kristine, wife of Paul Groeber of Center Valley; siblings, Donald Yurko Sr. of Mint Hill, NC, Bernard Yurko & his wife, Pam of Nazareth and Theresa Reichard of Hellertown; his 13 grandchildren, Gina Giordano-Goldstein, Emil, Anthony & Michael Giordano; Chelsey & Jared Neders; Devyn Yurko; Gregory, Philip & Ryan Gullone; and Justine, Jillian & Jenna Groeber; 5 great grandchildren, Rocco, Reese and Ryder Giordano, Madison and Isabella Goldstein; and sisters-in-law, Joan Yurko and Dorothy Yurko, both of Bethlehem. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George Jr. and Charles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26 at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem. Prior to Mass a visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
