Eileen G. Hayes

Eileen G. Hayes, 73, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. She was the devoted wife of Robert J. Hayes with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Eileen was born in Newark, New Jersey on September 1, 1945. She was the daughter of Edward K Gill and Margaret Lizotte Gill. She was a graduate of Cranford High School in New Jersey. She earned a BA in English and a BS in Education from The College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey. She was awarded a Masters Degree in English from Lehigh University.

Eileen was a life-long educator. She enjoyed her long teaching career in both the United States and abroad.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert of Bethlehem; daughters, Meghan Hayes of Hong Kong and Susan Ohl & husband Stephan of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Caitlin and Connor Ohl of Bethlehem; brothers, Thomas Gill of Juneau, AK and Robert Gill of Ridgefield, CT. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward and Stephen Gill.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, on Sunday, Feb 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. and again on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday followed by burial at Woodland Cemetery, Coopersburg.
