Eleanor J. Mesko

Eleanor J. Mesko, 90, of Bethlehem died Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus. Born in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Sopko) Blanar. She was married to the late Peter Mesko with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage until his death on January 13, 2007.

Eleanor was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School. She was proud of her Slovak heritage and its traditions. Eleanor enjoyed her life in Bethlehem and took advantage of everything Bethlehem had to offer, going to Musikfest and dancing to the Polkas, listening to Jolly Joe Timmer, and following Lehigh University and Bethlehem Catholic Wrestling. She was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Eleanor was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help where she volunteered her time, counting the collections at the end of Sunday masses. Family was very important to Eleanor and she especially loved her family trips to Wildwood, NJ.

Eleanor will be lovingly remembered by her son Paul Mesko and wife, Carole, daughters, Jane wife of George Rushe, Marcia Ulicny, Laura wife of Jim Allen, and Eileen wife of Chris Scott, sister, Kathleen wife of Robert Mihalik, grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Caroline, Andrea, Megan,

Kendra, Rachel, Maria, Thomas, Luke, and Allison, great grandchildren, Olivia, Emily, Tyler, Zayden, Owen, Elle, Claire, and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Blanar, sisters, Veronica Kametz, Martha Rawa, and Mary Margaret Blanar, and a son-in-law, Ron Ulicny.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 10-11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will be at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Bethlehem Catholic High School and in the memo please list "Kathryn Blanar Memorial Scholarship Fund". Contributions may be mailed to Bethlehem Catholic High School, 2133 Madison Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017.
