Eleonore Brand

Eleonore Brand died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Easton Nursing Center at the age of 86. A United States citizen from birth (May 5, 1928), Eleonore grew up in Germany and returned here after WWII to be with her father, Robert (Bob) and his new family, wife Gertrude and son, Robert C. Brand. Shortly after arriving she began working for the Maillard Corp., makers of fine chocolates in New York City, a subsidiary of Just Born. Within a few years she was promoted and moved to Bethlehem, PA. An intelligent and industrious person, she was recognized as an excellent employee and ultimately became a Supervisor for Just Born's Peeps Department, birthplace of the famous marshmallow treats. Eleonore was not only valued by the management of Just Born but by her employees in the Peeps Department where her empathy and willingness to help others earned her the respect of her fellow employees. After retiring with 37 years of service, she continued to live in Bethlehem until 2002 when she moved and became a resident of the Easton Nursing Center. Over the last decade she expressed her gratitude for the wonderful care she received from the staff of Easton Nursing Center and her guardian, Deborah Jean DeNardo. Additionally, she deeply appreciated the visits she received from her friends and the good people at Just Born.

Survivors: She is survived by her brother, Robert Brand and his wife, Rule, of Portland OR; two nephews, Matthew of San Diego, CA and Christopher, his wife Nathalie & their sons, Nicholas and Beckett of Mill Valley, CA.

Services: A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug 2 at 1 p.m. in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA, with visitation from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
