Elizabeth E. Kennedy

October 5, 1929 — March 3, 2009

Elizabeth E. Kennedy, 79, of Bethlehem died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's in Lower Saucon Township. She was the wife of William R. S. Kennedy. They were married on July 17, 1954, almost 55 years ago. Born in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late Carolyn Benedict Engle and Melvin D. Engle.

She was a graduate of Hood College with a B.S. in Home Economics. While living in Pittsburgh, PA she spent many years serving on the Social Service Board of the Shadyside Hospital. In Bethlehem she was a Friendly Visitor, a Laubach literacy tutor and a fund raiser for Hood College. Her hobbies included genealogy, art, antiques and she was a Life Master in duplicate bridge. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem.

Surviving are her husband, a daughter Carolyn B. Kennedy and a son David B. Kennedy and his wife Pam R. Kennedy of Bethlehem and four grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church chapel, 2344 Center St., Bethlehem at 11:00AM Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Connell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. No calling hours.
