Elmer A. Parton, 87, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. He was born in Allentown, son of the late Elmer and Florence (Ziegler) Parton. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lorraine (Pfeffer) Reiser Parton.
Elmer worked as a carpenter for the Bethlehem Steel for many years, retiring in 1986. He was a veteran of the Army having served with the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion during WWII. His memberships included; MORA, USWA Local 2600, Girard College Alumni Association, Bethlehem Township Autumn Club, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorraine; daughters, Ruth Ann Parton, Joan Crowl and Rita Parton; step children, Robert Reiser, James W. Reiser, Jr. and Tricia McAtee; 3 grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna (Romanick) Parton; son, Bruce; brothers, LeRoy, Edward, Robert and Donald; and sisters, Dorothy Polser and Ruth Ache.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, where viewing hours will be held on Friday August 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A 10 Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 1st St. Bethlehem, 18020. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
Memorials may be made to the church.
