Sergeant Major Emil W. Kantz, 100, of Bethlehem, died Monday, June 6, 2022 in his home. Born in Allentown he was the son of the late Vilma (Gergowicz) and Fred Kantz. He was married to the late Mary (Bogar) Kantz.
Emil proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Unit Administrator at the Allentown Armory for the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and was the Historian for the 213th Regiment. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Emil was a member of St. Johns Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, where he was the past president of the Sick and Beneficial Society. He was a lifelong member of the Austrian/Hungarian Veterans Society, the American Legion Post 576 and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Hungarian First Defenders.
Emil will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Dennis F. Kantz husband of Betty and Dean A. Kantz husband of Karen, both of Bethlehem, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin and Otto Kantz and sisters, Margaret Schmaldinst, Arlene Joseph, and Josephine Slonaker.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 9-10 AM followed by a funeral service at 10 AM. Burial will be at Fountain Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Emils name to the St. Judes Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
