Emilia Jesus Leite

Emilia Jesus Leite, 93, of Coopersburg, passed away on August 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Aroes-Fafe, Portugal on December 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Silva and Antonia Moreira. Emilia was preceded in death by her husband, Avelino Castro Leite.

Emilia will be lovingly remembered as the matriarch of her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved. She was a strong, funny, kind, considerate, and appreciative woman.

Emilia had a strong work ethic which served her well as a seamstress. Emilia found great peace in knitting and crocheting. She also was extremely faithful and was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church.

She was formerly a member of the Philadelphia Portuguese Club where she served on the social committee. She looked forward to going to events to be with the people she loved.

Emilia will be dearly missed by her family, son, Antonio Leite (Maria); daughters, Almerinda Soares (Gastao); and Lucilina Godinho (Daniel); brother, Agostinho Silva; 10 loving grandchildren, 21 adored great-grandchildren and many caring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jose Leite; and siblings, Alvaro, Aderito, Orlando, Teresa, Isaura, and Fernando.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 8:00 am - 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am at Holy Infancy Church, 312 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, PA 18015. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Philadelphia.

Masks are highly recommended during the services due to the current conditions.
