Emma Jean Mitros

Emma Jean Mitros, 92, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017. She was born on November 5, 1924, in Alden, PA, daughter of the late Stella (Wisinski) and Bolish Urbanski. She was the loving wife of the late Edward J. Mitros.

Emma Jean was a member of St. Annes church in Bethlehem. The Catholic faith was an anchor for her in every aspect of her life. She prayed the rosary daily and passed this practice on to her children. She enjoyed writing and wrote hundreds of letters to the editor on the controversial issues of the day, particularly in defense of unborn children. She enjoyed doing temporary secretarial work each year when her husband, a school teacher, was home for the summer.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David Mitros of Bethlehem, Daria and her husband William Sockey of Venus, PA and Christina and her husband Timothy Watkins of Oxford, CT; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a sister, Dorothy Frinsko. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Urbanski.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017 at 11:00 am.

The family requests that friends have masses said for Emma Jean at the Catholic Church of their choice. Alternatively, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne's Church.
