Emma R. Schwind

November 15, 1917 — June 4, 2010

Emma R Tauber Schwind, 92, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, June 4, 2010 in her home. Emma was born in Allentown, PA and was the daughter of the late John and Johanna Haedl Tauber and the widow of the Walter W. Schwind.

Emma worked for the City of Bethlehem for 10 years as a secretary then worked for the Bethlehem Area School District as an executive secretary retiring in 1980 after 18 years of service. Emma volunteered as the Camp Director Great Valley Council at Camp Helena for 10 summers, and was also the troop leader of Girl Scout Troop # 65 for 12 years influencing the lives of numerous young women in the Lehigh Valley. Emma and her husband Walter volunteered at Muhlenberg Hospital and received the Theresa Muhr Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service in 1996. Emma and her husband were founding members of their community at Traditions of Hanover. It was in this community that Emma graduated in the initial class of Posit Science Brain Fitness program and set an example for the Aging in Place. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Bethlehem, PA.

Emma will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rosalie Summerill of Princeton Junction, NJ and Anna Marie O'Brien and her husband James of Paonia, CO, four brothers Herbert Tauber of Allentown, PA, Aloysius Tauber of Fullerton, PA, Daniel Tauber of Matthews, NC and Paul Tauber of Allentown, PA, sister-in-law Rose Tauber of Fullerton, PA, three grandchildren, Jim and Kirsten O'Brien of NC, Todd and Laila O'Brien of OR and Tara and Sam Cox of CO and seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. All who knew her have many fond memories of Emma.

Emma is predeceased by her parents and two brothers Ferdinand and Robert Tauber.



Friends and family may call on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at Church.

Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Sellersville, PA

Memorials may be made in memory of Emma Schwind to the church
