Erna Mcgaughey

Erna Jansen McGaughey, 76, passed away on January 1, 2021 at St Lukes Easton after a long illness. Born in Oslo Norway in mid-October 1944, she was the daughter of Erling and Gudrun Jansen. Erna was the wife of John E. McGaughey, mother of Erik J. McGaughey and grandmother to Erik and his wife Deborahs children, Zachary, Emily, and Charlie.

Erna had a very strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that began when she was a child. While living in New Jersey, she was happy teaching Sunday School for many years, and was very active in her church.

A few years ago, she had been active at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem as well. Erna chose to attend Life Church Nazareth until her Alzheimers prevented her continuing to attend. Erna was very proud of her Norwegian heritage, and especially proud of becoming a citizen of the United States. Erna had been employed in the accounting department of B. Braun for many years, where she made many friends. She was also a member of the Red Hats and happily participated in many activities of her local Lions Club.

Donations to honor Ernas life can be made to the Alzheimers Association or the American Diabetes Association. Ernas family is appreciative of the long-term care provided by Dr. Michael Ehrig and Dr. Gretchen Perilli. We also want to thank the team at the Memory Unit of Arden Courts in Easton for their exceptional and compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
