Erwin J. "Erv" Schummer

Erwin J. “Erv” Schummer, 64, of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Born in Ekenburg, Austria; he was the son of the late Elizabeth Schummer. He was the husband of Patricia (Lisicky) Schummer, they were married 43 years.

Erv was a graduate and scholar athlete of Catasauqua High School. He attended Muhlenberg College where he was a Little All-American football player and recipient of the Maxwell Award.

He was the owner and operator of Valley Farm Market which he founded in 1970. Erv was a hard working self-made man who adored his grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption, B.V.M.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat; son, Eric & wife, Kristin; daughter, Jessica Schummer; grandchildren, Haley & Nick Schummer; and sister, Helga Schummer. He was predeceased by his infant son, Jeffrey.

Viewing hours will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Sunday, Mar. 16 from 4 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 17 at the Church of the Assumption, B.V.M., 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem. Entombment will be private.
