Ethel M. Harvey, 90, of Lower Saucon Township, Pennsylvania, died peacefully Friday, July 6, 2018 in her home with her family by her side. Born April 4, 1928 in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Marguerite (Baugh) and Kenneth Mowlds. She was married to Fred G. Harvey more than 68 years.
Ethel graduated from A.I. duPont High School and Goldey Beacom Business College in Wilmington, Delaware. She was a gifted natural for many the many athletic activities that she enjoyed including field hockey, softball and basketball during and after her academic years. She was a member of Saucon Valley Country Club and had a hole-in-one on the 14th hole of the Old Course.
Ethel Generously volunteered countless hours to many non-profit organizations including St. Lukes Hospital, American Cancer Society, and Meals on Wheels to name a few. She was very talented in the culinary arts, which she enjoyed immensely and loved hosting dinner parties and holiday celebrations with her many friends and family members. Gardening was another of her passions, treating family and friends to delicious homegrown vegetables and gorgeous flowers and landscaping around the family home. She also had a great eye for interior design, often times creating and sewing drapes and valences for her home and daughters homes. Ethel was a member of Grace Church Bethlehem. Among all her activities she was always dedicated to her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Fred, daughters, Nancy Leach(Rege) of Durango, Colorado, Lisa Huber of Wilmington, Delaware, and Virginia Harvey of Arlington, Virginia, brothers, Kenneth S. Mowlds(Lavina), Thomas Mowlds(Carolyn), Donald Mowlds, and Theodore Buresch, sister, Patricia Hendricks, and four grandchildren, Farran Leach, Christopher Leach, Erick Huber and Lauren Huber. The family would also like to express its gratitude to caregivers, Karina, Dawn and Jenna.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 14th at Grace Church Bethlehem, 521 E. Locust St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 at 11:00 AM. There will be a calling hour in the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Arrangements Connell Funeral Home, Inc.
