Ethel Marie Zavacky

Ethel Marie Zavacky, 98 years old, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, August 17, 2014. She was born June 8, 1916. Ethel was a resident of Holy Family Manor at 1200 Spring St., Bethlehem, PA. She was the widow of Louis Anthony Zavacky who died in 1990.

Born in Bethlehem, Ethel was the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Tujan) Szever. She was a very giving and caring individual who had a great love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ethel was a devoted and loving homemaker, who cared deeply for her family. She worked for many years as a seamstress for both Wilgor Mills and Panzell Inc.

Ethel will be greatly missed by all the members of her family, her many friends and her caregivers at Holy Family Manor. Surviving are her two sons, Leonard F. Zavacky and his wife, Jeanne of Lower Saucon Twp. and Alan S. Zavacky and his wife, Janet of Hellertown. She is also survived by her grandson, Louis Leonard Zavacky and his wife, Jennifer of Lower Saucon Twp.; granddaughter, Diane I. McManus and her husband, Tim of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ. In addition, she is survived by three great grandchildren, Camryn Leigh Zavacky and Colin Louis Zavacky and Tristan Andrew McManus; step great grandchild, Livia McManus and her godson, John Destasio. In addition to her husband, Louis, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cheryl L. Zavacky, two sisters, Gizella Kalamar and Irma Samson and brother, Stephen Szever.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-8 PM and again on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9-10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, PA 18015.

In recognition of the wonderful care she received at Holy Family Manor, contributions may be made in her name to Holy Family Manor 1200 Spring St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
