Evelyn M. Vlamis

June 22, 1914 — October 2, 2009

Evelyn M. "Mary" Nixon Vlamis, 95, of Bethlehem, passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem.

Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Mabel Kistler and William Nixon.

She was married to Tomis C. Vlamis who passed in 1966.

Evelyn was known by many as Mary the Greek. She worked as a waitress for several restaurants throughout the Lehigh Valley. Evelyn also enjoyed spending time at the YWCA Adult Daycare and traveling to Florida with her family.

Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary Bobyak of Bethlehem with whom she resided, son, Vincent Lee of Bethlehem, six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son Tomis C. Vlamis.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa 18018 from 6-8 PM and on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 10-11 AM followed by a service at 11 AM in the funeral home.

Burial will be at Nisky Hill Cemetery, in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to the American Cancer Society 3893 Adler Place Bethlehem, PA 18017, YWCA Adult Day Care 3893 Adler Place # B Bethlehem, PA 18017 or Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's 1510 Valley Center Parkway-St. 200 Bethlehem, PA 18017.
