Ferdinand "Fred" F.Wiedl, 89, of Bethlehem, PA died on Wed., June 21, 2006 at Muhlenberg Hospital in Bethlehem.
Born November 6, 1916 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late
Frank & Josephine Wamser Wiedl.
He was the husband of the late Anna Dolak Wiedl, who died in 1995.
Mr. Wiedl retired as the Superintendent of Maintenance of the General Services Department of Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 1977 after 38 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Bethlehem and a member of its Holy Name Society.
He was a past President of the Parents Club at DeSales University and a member of St. Bernard's Beneficial Society in Bethlehem.
An avid golfer, Mr. Wiedl was a charter member of the General Services Golf League, in which he played until 4 years ago. A highlight of his golfing career took place at the age of 79 or 80 when, while golfing with his grandson, he scored a hole in one and followed that up with an eagle on the next hole.
Mr. Wiedl is survived by:
2 sons; John S. "Jack" Wiedl and his wife Evelyn of Bethlehem and
Frank E. Wiedl and his wife Mary of Bethlehem.
He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 7 Great-grandchildren.
Along with his wife and parents he was predeceased by a son Robert in 1994, 1 brother and 2 sisters
SERVICES
Visitation will be at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday, June 25, 2006 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Services will begin at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 9:15 AM and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 10:00 AM
Burial will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Bethlehem.
