Forrest F. Engler, 90, of Allentown, died on Monday, October 10, 2011 surrounded by his family.
He was born August 11, 1921 in Slocum, PA; son of the late Russell and Ruth Ogin Engler Zimmerman.
Forrest was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sophie V. Dombroski Engler.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.
Forrest retired in 1985 as a construction general superintendent after a career of 42 years. He was formerly employed by Turner Construction Co. and James Julian Inc.
He was a parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.
Forrest was very dedicated to his family and will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sharon A. Engler of Allentown; son, Alan E. Engler and his wife Margie of Whitehall; his grandchildren, Michael; Michele and her husband Jay Albright and Matthew and his wife Erin; as well as his great grandchildren, Samuel Forrest and Julia Grace Albright; his sister, Elizabeth Ogan and brother, Allen Zimmerman.
He was predeceased by his brother, Heber.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church 1861 Catasauqua Rd Bethlehem PA 18018 on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 1 PM. Friends may call from noon to 1 PM in the church.
Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 3893 Adler Place, Bethlehem, PA 18017
