Frances A. Rupnik

December 9, 1924 — October 3, 2019

Frances A. Rupnik, 94, of Bethlehem, PA died Thursday. October 3, 2019, at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania. Born December 9, 1924 in the Home Park section of Whitehall, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Fedor) Sukanick and Andrew P. Sukanick. She was married to Walter J. Rupnik with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage prior to his death on December 13, 2002.

Frances loved memories of her childhood home overlooking the town of Cementon. Though partly during the period of the Great Depression, it was otherwise a seemingly idyllic experience filled with beautiful orchards, farm animals, and country living.

Frances attended Whitehall schools and worked for various clothing factories over the years. She was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Parish in Bethlehem where she had sung in the choir. She had a personal special devotion to St. Anne. Frances loved her faith, her family, her Slovak ancestry, and she had a passion for travel. She visited nearly all of the states in the country during many travel-trailer vacations which were always filled with recreational as well as historical destinations. She traveled throughout most of western Europe on several family-designed trips which created beautiful memories. Having lived through the Great Depression, she had an admirable perception of value even in the simplest of things in life. She possessed a quiet dignity with a genuine sense of appreciation of nature and things of beauty. She happily participated in the many interests of her family, including attending concerts too numerous to count. She was fortunate in having lived a long life filled with happiness and adventure, and she will be dearly missed.

She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Frances of Bethlehem and sons Walter (Diane) of Breinigsville, Richard of Slatington, and Brian (Jennifer) of Bethlehem, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Jordan Sukanick and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her direct ancestors and brothers Andrew E., John G., and Gerald Sukanick, and sisters Emma Lampel, Margaret Rucci, Mae (Astl) Carter, and Evelyn Snyder. She was also predeceased by nephews John C. and Joel Sukanick, Barry Astl, and grandnephew Drew Sukanick
