Francis G. Sabol, 88, formerly of Henderson St. in Bethlehem, died on Monday, July 26, 2010 surrounded by his family at his residence in Northampton.
He was born December 22, 1921 in Bethlehem, the son of the late Andrew S. and Mary Doddy Sabol.
Frank was the devoted husband of 65 years to his wife, Elizabeth T. Sabol.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Frank retired from the Bethlehem Steel Co. in 1978 after 38 years of service as a Rigger.
He was a former parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church Bethlehem where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and currently was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual help Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
Frank served as a Crossing Guard for the Bethlehem Area School District and was an avid gardener and biker.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family, wife Elizabeth; daughters, Dr. Phyllis J. Sabol and her husband Frank Keaney of Philadelphia; Mary S. Sabol, MFA of Southington, CT and Karen E. Sabol, PhD of Mississippi and sons, Frank G. Sabol, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Bethlehem Twp. and Martin P. Sabol of Portland, ME.
Frank is also survived by his six grandchildren, Jason and Kelly Sabol; Lydia, Bart and Monica Keaney and Ann Fisher and four great grandchildren, Haley, Jeremy, Troy and Chris as well as his sisters Kathryn Szabo and Theresa Karabin both of Bethlehem.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters Anne H. Sabol and Mary Gasda and his brothers John and Andrew Sabol as well as his son-in-law Tom Fisher.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem PA 18020
Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
