Francis J. Bellew

Francis J. Bellew, 85, of Bethlehem died on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at St Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.

He was born in Bethlehem, the son of the late James and Mary Ford Bellew. He was the loving husband of Frances Bicking Bellew, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on April 9, 2010

He served his country during WWII with the 1st Marine Division. He was a Purple Heart veteran wounded in the battle of Peleliu.

Francis worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, performing various jobs, including District Director of Customer Services. He retired in 1980.

Francis was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, where he served as usher and Past President of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid golfer.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife; sons Kevin of Bethlehem; and Brian and his wife Carol of Apollo Beach, FL; a sister, Clare Skomitz of Bethlehem; grandchildren Jocelyn and Brandon Bellew and Corrie Tice. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Francis was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 10-11 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 450 East Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017.



Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
