Francis J. Boyle

Francis J. Boyle, 84, of Bethlehem died Monday, May 2, 2022 at St. Lukes Hospital-Bethlehem Campus. Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late Hilda (Halleman) and Francis Boyle. He was married to Rosalie (Swegel) Boyle with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage this past April 8th.

Francis was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School. Following high school he worked for Bethlehem Steel before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He joined the Bethlehem Police Department in 1964 as a patrolman helping organize the Explorers Post and Safety Patrol programs. In 1974 he was promoted to Detective and was promoted to Captain in 1988. He proudly served the community for 38 years until his retirement in 2002. Francis continued to serve the Bethlehem community after retirement working at City Hall greeting those who entered.

In his free time Francis enjoyed writing poetry and was an avid fan of College Wrestling.

Francis will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rosalie, 4 sons, Francis Boyle, III and wife Jineen, Matthew Boyle and wife Lisa, Shawn Boyle, and Travis Boyle and wife Carrie. He will also be remembered by his 4 grandchildren, Kain, Aidan, Hannah, and Ronan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Boyle.
